LITTLE MIND-FULLS FOR SCHOOLS

The Little Mindfulls Workshop, a unique program designed specifically to help children aged 5-11 build emotional resilience, understand their feelings, and express them in healthy ways.

Why Emotional Learning Matters in Schools

Emotions are at the core of a child’s ability to learn, interact, and grow. Without the right tools to recognize and regulate their emotions, students can struggle with behavioral issues, low self-esteem, and difficulty focusing. That's where emotional intelligence (EQ) comes in. By building emotional intelligence, children can learn to manage their feelings, build stronger relationships, and perform better academically.

Prevention is far more beneficial than intervention, and this statement couldn't be more true when we look at figures of the mental health crisis children of today are experiencing. According to Johnathan Haidt's Author Of  The anxious generation, suicide rates in young teens increased by 176% in girls and 91% in boys in the decade leading up to 2020. This was pre covid!

As a Neuroscience Coach with a deep understanding of child development, and the impact developmental Trauma has on the mind and body, I bring a unique perspective to this programme. My expertise in neuroscience helps children understand how their brains work and how emotions impact their ability to process information, engage with peers, and regulate behavior. Through Little Mindfulls, I combine cutting-edge brain science with practical emotional learning tools to help children thrive in school and beyond.

What’s Included in the Little Mindfulls Workshop?

The Little Mindfulls programme is designed to be engaging and impactful, offering a fun yet structured approach to emotional learning. Workshops include:

  • Child-appropriate Breathwork: Techniques that activate the parasympathetic nervous system, helping children calm their mind and body, promoting focus and relaxation.

  • Mindfulness Practices: Helping children develop self-awareness and self-regulation, enabling them to better manage stress and emotions.

  • Social Skills Development: Teaching children how to recognize emotions in themselves and others, fostering empathy, and developing the skills for positive social interactions.

  • Mirroring: Encouraging emotional expression by reflecting feelings, helping children identify and articulate their emotions with confidence.

  • Fun Games: Playful activities designed to teach emotional expression in enjoyable and engaging ways.

  • Bodywork & Screaming: Safe techniques to release pent-up emotion and tension, giving children an outlet for strong feelings and promoting emotional balance.

Each session is specifically tailored to meet the needs of the group, ensuring that every child benefits from the workshop.

Emotional intelligence is the ability to recognize, understand, and manage our own emotions, as well as the ability to empathize with others and navigate social interactions. Studies have shown that children with high emotional intelligence perform better academically, have stronger relationships, and are more resilient in the face of challenges.

Through Little Mindfulls, children will learn how to:

  • Identify and label their emotions accurately

  • Regulate their emotional responses in healthy ways

  • Communicate their feelings with others

  • Empathize with the emotions of those around them

  • Build strong emotional resilience that helps them navigate life's ups and downs

Benefits for Schools:

  • Improved Emotional Regulation: Students will learn how to manage their emotions, reducing instances of outbursts, anxiety, and withdrawal.

  • Increased Focus and Engagement: With better emotional awareness, children can focus more on their studies, leading to improved academic performance.

  • Stronger Peer Relationships: Through emotional learning, students will gain social skills and empathy, helping them form healthier friendships.

  • Reduced Behavioral Issues: Children who feel emotionally safe and understood are less likely to act out, fostering a more positive classroom environment.

  • Holistic Development: Supporting emotional intelligence alongside academic learning fosters well-rounded students who are prepared to thrive both socially and academically.
